The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the French Republic, Dr. Muhammed Abdul Ghaffar, met with the President and members of the "Union of Journalists interested in Arab affairs in France" (UJAF), during a press conference, on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Embassy. The meeting comes within the framework of periodic meetings organized by the embassy with the local media in France.
In his speech, the Ambassador stressed the importance of continued communication with journalists and those in charge of the media, praising their role. The meeting reviewed the situation in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which has been developing since its inception in 2000, on all political, economic and social levels.
Dr Abdul Ghaffar also spoke about the parliamentary and municipal elections in Bahrain, and the role of women who have the right to vote and run for office. He also stressed the role that women play in achieving economic growth, which referred to a recent report by the International Labour Organization, where the Kingdom of Bahrain ranked first globally in the fastest growth of women's participation in economic activity.
He also stressed the importance of striving to improve the culture, openness, and acceptance, all of which are elements known by the Kingdom of Bahrain in its history, by being a model of coexistence between the different sectors. He said that this outstanding experience in religious acceptance is the most prominent feature that it is proud of.
He pointed out that the real danger lies in Iran and their expansionist policy, which seeks to divide communities along sectarian lines.
There was also a discussion with journalists attending the meeting, where Dr. Abdul Ghaffar answered questions regarding the latest developments in Bahrain and at the regional level.
