Bahrain's Ambassador to the United Kingdom meets the Middle East Association
Bahrain's Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa, gave a speech on the topic of investment, tourism and trade opportunities in Bahrain during a meeting with the Middle East Association (MEA).
The Association is considered one of the leading associations established in 1961, to promote trade and investment between the United Kingdom and the Middle East and North Africa.
The association represents about 350 organizations from all commercial and industrial sectors.
Shaikh Fawaz was received by the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association, Mr. Peter Meyer, who praised the historical and distinguished relations between Bahrain and the UK; commending the efforts and initiatives in which the Ambassador has taken part in.
H.E the Ambassador expressed gratitude to the members of the Association and the attendees for the warm reception and commended the strength of the historical ties between the two countries and the 200 years anniversary on the establishment of the Bahraini-British relations.
He also noted means to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, especially on economic areas.
H.E the Ambassador pointed that bilateral trade volume exceeded $548 million last year, even though the current economic crisis that has negatively impacted many states, however, the Kingdom of Bahrain has achieved an economic growth rate of 3.9% in 2015 in the non-oil sectors, where the GDP exceeded $31 billion.
The meeting was attended by a number of diplomats, businessmen, corporate representatives and academics from various British and Arab sectors.
