Renewal of the Bahraini passports:

Please follow these procedures to renew a Bahraini passport:

  1. Submit a letter of request at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Jordan or the Consulate addressed to the Head of Mission requesting the extension to enable him to travel.
  2. Filling out the Passport Renewal Form by the applicant.
  3. Attach a photograph of the applicant.
  4. The applicant will be informed about the required steps, expected timeframe and the approval status of the renewal request in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
  5. The applicant must provide his address and telephone number(s) in a clear way so that the officer in charge can inform him of the response of the competent authority in Bahrain.


Replacement of a Bahraini passport:

Please follow these procedures to replace a Bahraini passport:
  1. Filling out the Passport Replacement Form by the applicant.
  2. The applicant should personally visit the Embassy to match his photograph with the original by the officer in charge at the Embassy, the applicant must submit a letter of request in this regard, and in the case of the applicant in another country or in a far away town from where the Mission is, some procedures exist to facilitate his application.
  3. The applicant must inform the Head of Mission by writing, requesting the issuance of new passport.
  4. Attach the original passport with two recent photographs with a white background, and a fee of (ten) 10 B.D. (Bahraini Dinars or the equivalent).
  5. All documents will be sent from the Embassy or Consulate, together with an official letter requesting the replacement of the passport to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bahrain, which in turn, will pass the request to the General Directorate of Nationality, Passports.
  6. If the Bahraini passport has been issued more than 10 years ago, it will be replaced, and will not be renewed again.
  7. Bahraini citizens can apply for an Identification Card, issued by the General Directorate of Nationality, Passports and Residence for a fee of (one) 1 B.D. (Bahraini Dinars or the equivalent).
  8. Children's passports are replaced on a letter from his/her Bahraini parent.

Replacement or Renewal of children's passports:

Please follow these procedures to replace or renew a child's passport:
  1. Fill out the replacement or renewal form.
  2. The child's guardian must submit two letters, the first addressed to the Director of Nationality, Passports and Residence; and the second addressed to the Head of Mission, requesting the replacement or renewal of the passport.
  3. Attach the original passport with two (6x4) recent photographs with a white background, and a replacement fee of (ten) 10 B.D. (Bahraini Dinars or the equivalent).
  4. The Embassy or Consulate will send all documents to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for approval.
The loss of a Bahraini passport:

Please follow these procedures to replace or renew a child's passport:
  1. A police report on the loss of the passport from the local police station.
  2. placing a press notice in a local newspaper acknowledging the loss of the passport, and provide the Embassy or Consulate with a copy of this notice. The applicant will bear the costs for this advertisement.
  3. Issuance fee of 50 Dinars.
  4. Submitting a letter by the applicant addressed to the Head of Mission requesting the issuance of a new passport as a replacement of the lost passport.
  5. The applicant will be informed of a waiting period, allowing the General Directorate of Nationality, Passports and Residence to issue a circular about the lost passport. The applicant must appear in person at the said Directorate (in Bahrain) to be issued with a new passport as a replacement of the lost passport, then the Embassy or Consulate will issue him with a single trip Travel Document to Bahrain to facilitate his entry.

Issuance of a Travel Document for an applicant who has lost his passport

Please the following procedures for the issuance of a Travel Document:

  1. A police report on the loss of the passport from the local police station.
  2. Placing a press notice in a local newspaper acknowledging the loss of passport, and provide the Embassy or Consulate with a copy of this notice. The applicant will bear the costs for this advertisement.
  3. Issuance fee of 50 Dinars.
  4. Submitting a letter by the applicant addressed to the Head of Mission requesting the issuance of a new passport as a replacement of the lost passport.
