His Excellency Dr Anwar Yusuf Abdulla Alabdulla
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Bahrain to China
He holds M.sc. & Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Bradford, United Kingdom and a B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Al Abdulla had worked as a petroleum engineer in the Bahrain Petroleum Company, then a professor in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Bahrain, his career later exceeded two decades at the rank of Minister Plenipotentiary at the General Secretariat of The Gulf Cooperation Council, where he held several leadership positions.
He served as a Director of the Department of Energy in the Economic Affairs Sector as well as the department concerned with promotion of the process of coordination and cooperation between the GCC countries at different phases of oil and gas industry, petrochemicals and metals, then as a Director of the Department of Scientific and Technical Cooperation in Humanitarian and Environmental Affairs sector, dealing with the uses of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes in The GCC countries for electricity generation and water desalination, and later he became an advisor to the Secretary-General.
Following the nomination of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Dr. Al Abdulla held in recent years the post of The Secretary General of The GCC Standardization Organization "GSO", the body that deals with specifications, standards and quality of goods, products and materials those imported or exported to the GCC common market.
Dr Al Abdulla made many contributions and outstanding efforts in the presentation of the energy policies of The GCC countries at international forums and conferences, as well as defending the GCC balanced positions towards the interrelationships between energy, environment and development, through a large number of research studies and keynote speeches.
He also played a prominent role in the development of standards performance and improved outcomes by the Gulf Standardization Organization, which has earned an international reputation.
After returning from his office in Riyadh, Dr Al Abdulla received the Royal honor of being appointed as a member of the board of the National Commission for the Qualifications and Quality Assurance of Education and Training and was then appointed in the rank of Ambassador at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Dr Al Abdulla holds now the position of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador in Beijing and a non-resident in a number of neighboring countries.
