The Grand Mufti of Russia, Russian Muftis Shura Council Chairman and President of the Religious Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation, Shaikh Rawi Ainuddin, announced naming the eighth Holy Quran Competition after His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The event, which will be held next September in Moscow, is organized by the Council with the support of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government of Moscow.
This came as Shaikh Rawi Ainuddin received the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Russian Federation, Dr Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Saati, at the Moscow Cathedral Mosque.
Shaikh Rawi Ainuddin said that the decision was in appreciation of the great role of His Majesty the King in support of Islam and Muslims as well as in the memorization and promotion of the Holy Quran, praising His Majesty the King’s initiatives to bolster the Islamic religion values, embodied in tolerance, the approach of moderation, rejection of intolerance and promoting love, peace and human coexistence.
He noted he found all the support and backing from His Majesty the King to the Council’s efforts and projects during his visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain in March last year, expressing his thanks and appreciation to His Majesty for gifting the Moscow Cathedral Mosque a large collection of Bahrain copies of the Holy Quran.
The Ambassador expressed his thanks for the Council’s initiatives to name the eighth Holy Quran Competition after His Majesty the King, affirming that this would further bolster the good relations between Muslims in the Russian Federation and their brothers in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
