Laissez Passer

A Laissez Passer is a passage document valid for two weeks and allows only one-way trip to Bahrain where a new passport shall be issued. The embassy issues it in the event of loss of a passport and birth of a new child abroad.

1.  Loss of Passport
  • •    A completed Application Cover Page
  • •    A formal report of passport’s loss issued by the nearest police station
  • •    A formal letter to the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Japan requesting the issuance of a Laissez Passer to enable you to travel
    (*Note: The intended date of your travel must be mentioned to the embassy in order to determine a starting date and validity of your laissez passer.)
  • •    Two 4x6cm current photos with white background (See also Photo Requirements )
  • •    A copy of CPR card
  • •    A copy of the photo page of the lost passport, if available


2.  Birth of a New Child
  • •    A completed Application Cover Page
  • •    Two 4x6cm current photos with white background taken within the last 6 months (See also Photo Requirements )
  • •    An original or authenticated copy of birth certificate issued by a local government.
    (In case of Japan, an original “出生届の記載事項証明書″with its Arabic/English translation will do. Please contact the embassy.)
  • •    An authenticated copy of marriage contract of the father and the mother of the child
  • •    A copy of the photo page of the father’s and the mother’s passports
  • •    A formal letter to the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Japan written by a guardian of the child stating that the father and the mother of the child are still married.
  • •    A formal letter to the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Japan requesting issuance of a Laissez Passer to enable the child to travel
    (*Note: The intended date of your travel must be mentioned to the embassy in order to determine the starting date and validity of your laissez passer.)

*All documents in languages other than English and Arabic should be translated and authenticated. (For the authentication procedure, please contact the embassy.)

*The embassy will NOT return any application documents once submitted.
