Ministry of Foreign Affairs presents a protest memorandum to the Iranian Charge d'affaires
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Regional and GCC Affairs, Ambassador Hamad Ahmed Al Amer today summoned the Iranian Charge d'affaires Mr. Mahdi Islami to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and handed over an official protest note related to the falsification and distortion made by the Iranian media through its state television where its Persian translator placed "Bahrain" name instead of the name of "Syria" in the speech delivered by the Egyptian President Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Mursi, during the opening session of the 16th Non-Aligned Movement Summit.
This act is a rejected infringement and a conduct of media distortion. It indicates interference by Iranian media in the internal affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain and constitutes a departure from the generally accepted norms.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has demanded in its official note that the Iranian government apologize for this act and take the necessary measures about it as such conduct harm bilateral relations and brotherly ties linking the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Arab Republic of Egypt.
