Minister of Foreign Affairs meets with US envoys during their visit to a number of countries in the region
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, met at his office at the Ministry’s General Court today with the US Special Envoy, Retired General Anthony Zinni, and the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Arabian Gulf Affairs in the Near East Bureau, Timothy Lenderking, as well as their accompanying delegation, on the occasion of their visit to the Kingdom as part of a tour to a number of countries in the region to discuss the Qatari crisis.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed the American envoys, and expressed pride in their visit which reflects the advanced strategic alliance between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States, and the development of historic relations between the two countries in all fields. The Minister noted that the visit affirms the keenness of the two countries to further continue joint coordination on various issues.
Shaikh Khalid praised the cooperation between the GCC and the United States over the years, commending the US unwavering stance in confronting all forms of terrorism, its supporters and funders. He reiterated Bahrain’s support to the relentless efforts exerted by the US to maintain security and stability, noting the importance of solidarity to face all threats and challenges targeting the region.
For his part, Retired General Anthony Zinni expressed pride in meeting the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and in the strong friendly relations between the two countries. He also stressed the importance of joint action to protect the region and enhancing international peace and security, lauding the measures taken by the Kingdom for that purpose.
