Before entry to France, the student must apply for a « Student Visa » to the French Consulate, about two months before his travel date. He/ she should also certify his baccalaureate by the Ministry of Education of the Kingdom of Bahrain, with an attestation certifying that this diploma allows him/ her to pursue gigher education. Then, he/ she must translate into French his/ her birth certificate as well as all diploma and attestations.
At the beginning of university studies, the student spends one or two years in order to perfect his/ her knowledge of French in a language institute in France. He/ she can also benefit from this period to reach other objectives, such as adapting to the new lifestyle or discover other universities and specialisations, in order to choose what is the most convenient for him/ her.
As for the students preparing a Bachelor’s degree, registrations start before the end of January at the latest, and the student receives a reply from universities before the end of June.
Finding a place of accommodation for students is not an easy task in France, especially in Paris. In France, there is a network of cities that provides systems of accommodation adapted to the students life, such as individual rooms, studios, or universities apartments. The monthly rent is about 150 Euros for rooms and 300 Euros for studios. However, it is difficult that the students not having a scholarship from the French government to acquire such type of accommodation.
On the other hand, the private sector provides opportunities of accommodations from another type, depending on the students’ financial means and the place of study. In this case, the rent is relative to the market fares, and is certainly more expensive than the universities fares.
