His Excellency Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohamed Al Khalifa held a dinner on Tuesday evening at his residence in London in honour of a delegation of staff from the office of the First Deputy Prime Minister in Bahrain.
Delegates included Ms Yara Faraj, Ms Mariam Al-Mannai and Mr Hamad Al-Mahmeed.
Guests from both Houses of Parliament included Lord Risby, the Right Honourable David Jones MP, Colonel Bob Stewart DSO MP, Vice Chairman Bahrain APPG, Defence Select Committee member and his wife Countess Claire Podbielski-Stewart, Adam Holloway MP, Foreign Affairs Select Committee member, Kwasi Kwarteng MP, Helen Whately MP, Johnny Mercer MP, Jack Lopresti MP, Andrea Jenkyns MP, Nigel Mills MP, Mark Menzies MP, Charlotte Leslie MP and Leo Docherty, Conservative Middle East Council Director, who took a contingent of MPs to Bahrain last week for the 4th Bahrain Airshow.
The delegation and guests discussed the long history of cooperation between the two countries. David Jones, one of several MPs attending the dinner who had also just returned from Bahrain, thanked His Excellency for his generous hospitality on the recent trip and spoke of how impressed he was about what he had seen in Bahrain, particularly with regard to reforms.
Bob Stewart, another of the recent guest MPs in Bahrain, spoke about how he had first visited the Kingdom nearly 50 years ago and congratulated both countries on the anniversary this year of 200 years of friendship.
