Ambassador of Kingdom of Bahrain to UK receives Minister for External Relations for Government of Jersey
The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Kingdom, Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohamed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, received at the Headquarters of Kingdom of Bahrain’s Embassy in London, the Minister for External Relations for the Government of Jersey, Senator Ian Gorst. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the latest developments in the field of joint cooperation between the two countries, the most important of which was cooperation in the fields of financial technology, banking, culture, trade and other areas of concern.
The Ambassador affirmed the distinguished relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Government of Jersey, as well as the Embassy's keenness to develop these relations continuously and at all levels, in a way that enhances existing bilateral cooperation and trade exchange. He also expressed Bahrain’s aspiration for more cooperation and exchange of experiences in additional fields, including culture and heritage, with the possibility of benefiting from the experiences of the Kingdom of Bahrain in preserving heritage and archeological sites and including them in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
It is worth noting that a Memorandum of Understanding was signed last year between Bahrain Economic Development Board and Digital Jersey, and that the cooperation between Bahrain and Jersey will depend on the success of Bahrain's efforts to develop financial technology into a sustainable economic sector. Furthermore, Bahrain FinTech Bay, which is the first and largest accelerator of financial technology in the region, and its counterpart in Jersey, Digital Jersey, are launching a number of joint initiatives, including co-working spaces for companies in both countries and to focus on supporting and empowering women in the sector of financial technology, in addition to the possibility of cooperation with Digital Jersey Academy.
