British Labour Party commends Bahrain's signing of declaration supporting peace
The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Kingdom, Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, held a virtual meeting with the Shadow Minister of State for the British Middle East and North Africa and Member of the British Parliament, Wayne David, in the presence of the Shadow Minister of State for Peace and Disarmament, Fabian Hamilton, where they discussed a number of regional and international issues.
During the meeting, the Ambassador gave a presentation on the latest developments related to the peace process in the region, which were represented by the Kingdom of Bahrain's signing of the Abraham Accords, Peace Agreement and the Declaration of Peace with the State of Israel on September 15, 2020. The Ambassador affirmed that this historic step by the Kingdom of Bahrain will initiate a new phase of stability in the region, in a manner that ensures the promotion of peace, security and support for the Palestinian cause, regarding which Bahrain’s stance remains firm.
Following the meeting, the British Labour Party issued a statement commending the Kingdom of Bahrain’s move in signing a declaration supporting peace with the State of Israel by the Shadow Minister of State for Middle East and North Africa Affairs on September 17, 2020. He affirmed during the statement that the declaration signed between Israel and Bahrain is an important step towards the achievement of lasting stability and peace in the Middle East. He also stressed that, based on this step towards peace taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Labour Party firmly believes that it should now urge that every effort should be made to resume negotiations between the Israelis and the Palestinians, and the objective should be a two-state solution to secure a meaningful and long-term peace.
