Bahraini Businesswomen Delegation Takes Part in IWEC, Belgium
A delegation from the Bahrain Business Women Society (BBWS) and the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) visited the Belgian capital of Brussels from 6 to 10 November 2016 to participate in the Ninth Annual International Women's Entrepreneurial Challenge (IWEC).
During the conference, a number of Global business pioneers were honored, including Ms. Afnan Al Zayani and Dr. Ebtisam Al Dallal, both from the Kingdom of Bahrain who were presented with the Entrepreneurship Award.
On the sidelines of the conference, a discussion panel was organized for the delegation, in cooperation with the Arab-Belgium- Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce (ABLCC) and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Brussels.
The seminar was attended by a number of Belgian businesswomen and businessmen, representatives from Belgium’s regional commercial agencies, MP Stefano Malo from the European Parliament, and members of the diplomatic corps who were there to explore cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Belgium and promote Investment opportunities in Bahrain.
The seminar also spotlighted the key role of Bahraini women in national economic development and in opening future cooperation prospects by creating communication networks between the participants.
The BBWS and the BCCI presented the head of the Chamber Mr. Qaisar Hijazin with two medals in recognition of his efforts in organizing the seminar.
Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Kingdom of Belgium, Dr. Bahiya Al-Jishi, hosted a reception at her residence in honor of the delegation which was attended by Undersecretary for Human and Financial Resources and Information Technology, Ambassador Khalil Al Khayat, Director of the Middle East Department at the Belgian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Johan Veramn, President of the Belgian Women Business Association, Ms. Muriel Aaleters, President of the Arab-Belgium- Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Qaisar Hijazin, President of the European women's Forum, Representatives from the European parliament and a number of diplomats.
The delegation and the attendees exchanged views on aspects of political and economic cooperation between the European Union and the Kingdom of Bahrain while the Ambassador hailed this good initiative of Bahraini businesswomen as a positive step to boost the Kingdom’s relations with the European Union and Belgium in particular.
At the end of the reception, Each of the representatives of the BCCI and BBWS has presented a commemorative gift to the Ambassador in recognition of her efforts in promoting relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain, Belgium and Europe in all fields, particularly in the political and economic domains, highlighting the role of women as an essential partner in all aspects of development.
