Bahrain Ambassador in Brussels hosts Gulf meeting with European External Action Service
Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Brussels, accredited to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Kingdom of Denmark and Representative to the European Union and NATO, H.E. Dr. Bahia Jawad Al-Jishi, hosted a meeting with the Director General for Middle East and North Africa Affairs at the European External Action Service, H.E. Mr. Fernando Gentilini, which was attended by GCC countries’ Ambassadors accredited to the European Union.
During the meeting, the Ambassador valued the partnership and cooperation between the EU and GCC countries, whether at the bilateral level with each country or at the level of the Cooperation Council, stressing the strategic and geopolitical importance of promoting political and development relations between the two sides at various levels.
For his part, Mr. Gentilini affirmed the European Union's keenness to continue cooperation with the Gulf side, thanking the Kingdom's embassy for hosting the meeting and appreciating its role as the representative of the Gulf presidency for the current year in working to bridge the two sides' views.
The Ambassadors also discussed various topics of common interest in a number of fields with Mr. Gentilini; most notably, ways to develop Gulf-European relations and build on their gains in light of what was discussed in previous meetings between the two sides and the resulting decisions that include exchanging visits and developing memoranda of understanding in accordance with the development priorities of both sides. In addition, they discussed security and peace and reviewed the latest developments on the regional and international arenas.
