Ambassador of Kingdom of Bahrain to United States of America participates in Parliamentary Intelligence-Security Forum in Paris
The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United States of America, Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, participated in the 14th edition of the Parliamentary Intelligence-Security Forum held in Paris. The Conference saw the participation of a number of senior officials, experts, security advisers and members of parliaments, in addition to representatives of a number of security agencies and companies across the globe, where a range of international experiences in the fields of security and counter-terrorism were reviewed.
In his speech, the Ambassador affirmed that the reform approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, ensures all means of security and stability and provides economic development and prosperity. He also noted that the economic vision Bahrain 2030, launched by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, aims to improve the standard of living and the quality of life for all citizen.
The Ambassador also reviewed the serious security challenges faced by the Kingdom of Bahrain as an active member of the regional and international counterterrorism system. He pointed out that among these challenges are the Iranian-backed terrorist groups which aim to destabilize security and stability through their terrorist crimes that threaten lives and property.
He also stressed that the enhancement of international cooperation and coordination in the exchange of information and security expertise is an effective way to combat terrorism and reduce its negative impact.
He also noted that the Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, warned during his visit to the United States In April 2019 of the seriousness of employing technology in terrorist acts and that when the extremist ideology is combined with new and sophisticated technology, such as smart weapons, encrypted communications and artificial intelligence, the end result will be a whole new level of intimidating challenges, something that we we will all be exposed to in the coming years. He added that these new challenges should be called "smart terrorism"; a terrorism that provides terrorists with a new set of advantages through the use of technology, where remote operations can be carried out with minimal physical risk to perpetrators and multiple simultaneous attacks may be carried out from a single location.
The Ambassador praised in his speech the National Plan to Promote the Spirit of Belonging to the Nation and Reinforce the Values of Nationalism, which includes more than 70 initiatives aimed at promoting the values of good citizenship and aims to make the citizens active key members in the fight against crime in general and the fight against terrorism in particular.
