Embassy of Kingdom of Bahrain to United States of America hosts reception to celebrate Bahraini National Day
The Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United States of America hosted a reception on the occasion of the Kingdom of Bahrain's national celebrations on 16 and 17 December, in commemoration of the establishment of the modern Bahraini state as an Arab and Muslim country founded by Ahmed Al-Fateh in 1783, the 48th anniversary of its full membership in the United Nations, and the 20th anniversary of His Majesty the King’s accession to the throne, which was held at the United States Institute of Peace in Washington, DC.
On this special occasion, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United States of America, Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa extended his utmost congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness the Prime Minister, Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The Ambassador received during the celebration a group of well-wishers including ministers and senior officials in the military, diplomatic and political corps, members of the House of Representatives and the US Senate and a number of the Kingdom's friends at the celebration, as they wished the Kingdom on this special occasion further progress and prosperity.
During the speech delivered by the Ambassador, he stressed the depth of Bahraini-American friendship that is based on a solid foundation of shared values and interests that ultimately led to a strategic partnership keen to maintain regional and international security and peace, as a result of the wise foreign policy pursued by the Kingdom of Bahrain, led by His Majesty the King.
The Ambassador stated that the forces of ignorance, extremism and terrorism still threaten these shared values and principles, and not only constitute a threat against regional stability, but also threaten global stability, and therefore it is important for renewed resolve and commitment to address such forces and the despair of peace.
The Ambassador clarified that throughout the Kingdom’s history, it has been known for its religious pluralism and coexistence in its society, in which mosques, churches and temples are built next by, and that the reformist approach to His Majesty the King was keen to preserve and promote the values of tolerance and respect for religious freedoms, making the Kingdom a model for religious coexistence and tolerance. He also added that it is not only considered a model on the regional level but also on the international level, which was embodied in the Bahrain Declaration for Religious Tolerance and the establishment of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence as an international platform for dialogue and tolerance.
In concluding his speech, the Ambassador stressed that the Kingdom's steady economic growth is due to the comprehensive development visions of His Majesty the King and in light of Bahrain's Vision 2030 and successive economic reforms including labor market reforms and policies to continue diversifying the sources of national income.
