Kingdom of Bahrain Ambassador to U.S. participates in “The Abraham Accords: A Pathway to Peace with Economic Prosperity” forum

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United States of America, Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa, participated in the virtual forum hosted by the Institute of Politics of Harvard University, which was entitled “The Abraham Accords: A Pathway to Peace with Economic Prosperity”. The Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the U.S., Yousef Al Otaiba, and IOP Fellow S'21 and former Deputy Administrator/Chief Operating Officer of the U.S. Agency for International Development, Bonnie Glick, also took part in the event.

During the event, the Ambassador that the Kingdom of Bahrain is an important ally of the United States of America, and it is the headquarters of the United States Fifth Fleet. He also noted that Bahrain is committed to maintaining regional and international security, as it hosts the Combined Maritime Forces and the International Maritime Security Construct, stressing that peacemaking is the Kingdom’s strategic choice. the Ambassador also referred in his speech to the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which had a fundamental role in the important historical step to sign the Abraham Accords Declaration with the State of Israel. He mentioned that the bilateral relations between Bahrain and Israel, which are undergoing cooperation in various economic, environmental and technical fields, have also led to an important regional social development, adding that, "When we talk about the Abraham Accords, we talk about hope, positivity, and unleashing opportunities. We share many common challenges and we can learn from each other. "

Regarding the peace process in the Middle East, the Ambassador clarified that the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain remains committed to the Arab Peace Initiative and the two-state solution leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, and that the historic step taken by Bahrain is to bring the region closer to achieving a just and comprehensive peace.
