Minister of Foreign Affairs receives UK Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Freedom of Religion or Belief
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa received in his office at the Ministry’s General Court today, the UK Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Freedom of Religion or Belief, Rehman Chishti, in the presence of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Kingdom, Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa, the Deputy Chairperson of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, Betsy Mathieson and the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Roderick Drummond.
During the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed Mr. Chishti, expressing the Kingdom of Bahrain’s pride in the close historical relations with the United Kingdom and its keenness to further develop these relations for the benefit of both countries. He also noted the UK’s determined efforts in promoting tolerance and coexistence among different peoples, wishing Mr. Chishti further success.
For his part, Mr. Chishti expressed his pride in meeting the Minister of Foreign Affairs, stressing the UK’s interest in enhancing bilateral cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain at all levels. He also hailed Bahrain’s important initiatives in promoting coexistence between different cultures and religions, most importantly the establishment of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, and other initiatives that reflects the Kingdom of Bahrain’s contributions in consolidating pluralism, dialogue and coexistence for the benefit of all, wishing Bahrain further progress and prosperity.
