Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed discusses enhancing joint cooperation with official from Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland



The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa met today with a high-level delegation from the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, headed by the Director-General of the Department for Africa and the Middle East, Ambassador Leena-Kaisa Mikkola, on the sidelines of the 15th IISS Manama Dialogue.

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa welcomed the Finnish delegation, hailing the progress in relations between the two countries, based on mutual respect, vision and stances.

He also appreciated the outcomes of the second meeting of political consultations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Finland held last October in Helsinki, Finland. He also reflected the joint desire to enhance joint cooperation.



Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa also underlined that the two countries have vast investment opportunities, namely in the fields of renewable energy, emerging industries, tourism, culture, digital technology and other developmental areas.

He also pointed out that the Kingdom of Bahrain has an attractive and distinctive business environment in light of Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, which fostered an investment climate, diversified the national economy, kept pace with the modern technology sectors, along with important and encouraging incentives and facilities that can benefit Finnish investments and companies through advanced and effective government programs.

The Undersecretary for International Affairs also pointed out the advanced status held by the Kingdom of Bahrain in international forums, including the Kingdom's leadership in balancing democratic development with the steady growth of the smart economy, and progress in the fields of economic openness, human development, education, health, communications, and others.

He also affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, has succeeded in establishing an integrated, comprehensive and leading reform system in the region, based on the principles of progress, moderation and civilized coexistence. He added that human rights, in a broad sense, are an integral part of national action.



He also highlighted that terrorism threatens the security and stability of all countries of the world without exception, warning against any attempts to destabilize regional security and threaten international peace and security and target global energy supplies and international trade.

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa also praised the efforts exerted by the two countries to tackle environmental challenges resulting from pollution and climate change, in order to achieve a balanced and safe global environment. He also noted that the Kingdom of Bahrain pays special attention to environmental protection, while the Republic of Finland places the climate issue at the top of its priorities during its Presidency of the European Union.

For her part, Ambassador Leena-Kaisa Mikkola expressed Finland’s aspirations to work with the Kingdom of Bahrain in several fields, especially that the two countries share the same commitment towards prosperity, countering terrorism, world peace and climate protection, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain further progress and prosperity.
