Undersecretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs meets with Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kingdom of Thailand
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, met with the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, on the sidelines of the Manama Dialogue Conference
During the meeting, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla hailed the bilateral relations between the two Kingdoms of Bahrain and Thailand, and the development witnessed in these relations in all fields to what benefits both countries and their people.
The Undersecretary for International Affairs pointed out that the bilateral relations have witnessed a qualitative leap and important milestones, under the patronage of the two countries’ leaderships, supported by high-level mutual visits, signed agreements and memorandums of understanding. He also noted that the joint features have contributed to the consolidation of the foundations of a strong strategic partnership between the two countries.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla expressed his aspiration to hold the fourth meeting of the joint Bahraini-Thai Higher Committee, especially that the Committee has succeeded in its previous meetings to open new and important prospects for bilateral cooperation, and draw on the comparative advantages of the two countries to activate economic cooperation, investments, tourism and other vital areas.
The Undersecretary for International Affairs affirmed Bahrain's pride in joining the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia, in order to enhance relations with ASEAN countries to meet the common aspirations to establish peace and security in the region and the world. He also highlighted the efforts exerted by the friendly Kingdom of Thailand in coordination with the Member States to promote the Asia Cooperation Dialogue.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla called for Thailand's participation in the implementation of the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 programs, especially as the Kingdom has a viable and diversified economy that is sustainable in growth and competitiveness, in addition to an encouraging business environment and logistical facilities that can benefit Thai investments and companies, considering that the Kingdom of Bahrain represents a gateway to the Gulf market and a financial and business center, referring in this regard, to the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Economic Development Board and the Board of Investment of Thailand on 14 February 2018.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla stressed the importance of investing in international events and their new visions in building bridges of cooperation, as well as working together for the rule of peace culture and achieving sustainable development.
For his part, the Vice Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand expressed his country's pride in the strong relations it has with Bahrain. He also hailed the responsible and important role played by Bahrain to achieve peace at the regional and international levels, wishing the Kingdom further development.
