National Committee on Prohibition of Chemical Weapons Development, Production, Use and Stockpiling and their Destruction holds 11th meeting
The National Committee on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons Development, Production, Use and Stockpiling and their Destruction held its 11th virtual meeting today, headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa with the participation of the members of the Committee representing relevant ministries and government bodies.
The meeting followed up on the Committee’s projects including chemical weapons agreements and the chemical weapons scientific research award which was postponed until next year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Committee also discussed its annual agenda and agreed to postpone all events, meetings and workshops scheduled for the upcoming period until further notice, except for one workshop that will be held virtually soon.
The Committee reviewed the possibility of cooperating with the International Atomic Energy Agency in order to tackle COVID-19, discussing the possibility of providing technical and practical support by the Agency to Member States through providing the necessary equipment and training courses for workers in this field. The Committee also reviewed the implementation plan for the provisions of the Chemical Weapons Convention, which will be followed next year.
