Foreign Ministry holds human rights workshop
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched workshop titled “Role of Human Rights Diplomacy in consolidating Human Rights” under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa.
Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa assigned Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani to open the five-hour session which was held remotely.
The five-hour workshop which featured five sessions was attended online by the UK Minister for Human Rights Lord Tariq Ahmad, Steven Gillen is Deputy Assistant Secretary of State responsible for Near Eastern Affairs, International Labor Affairs, and Security and Human Rights in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (DRL) at the United States Department of State.
Bahrain-based-UN Development Programme Resident Coordinator Stefano Pettinato, Regional Representative of UN Human Rights Commission for Middle East and North Africa Office Ruwaida Al-Haj, Council of Representatives Mp, Shura Council members heads of diplomatic missions in Bahrain, experts and reporters and media figures took part.
The virtual workshop which was attended by 263 people, featured 19 papers and 38 recommendations.
Addressing the opening session of the workshop, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani expressed his deep gratitude and gratitude to Deputy Prime Minister His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa for for his patronage.
He underlined the Ministry’s pivotal role in protecting Bahrain’s sovereignty, independence, interests, regional and international standing, strengthening cooperation with different countries in the world and exerting all efforts to achieve security, stability and sustainable development.
He pointed out the ministry’s efforts to strengthen the Kingdom’s strategic standing, building the state of quality, justice and law and promoting the culture of tolerance, coexistence and acceptance of others, in addition to cementing the values of peace and fraternatnit between nations.
He stressed the responsibility of Bahraini diplomacy in spread these values, correct misconceptions, and harnessing efforts in working with the relevant and relevant authorities and local and international partners, to ensure sound practical practice and the application of the necessary legal legislation to adhere to the values of Bahraini society and internationally-recognized human rights frameworks.
He stressed the importance of the concept of human rights diplomacy, which aims to harness all efforts to protect the rights of citizens and residents, preserve their interests, in addition to strengthen cooperation with states as well as regional and international organisations
Al Zayani stressed Bahrain’s success in implementing a number of pioneering initiatives and outstanding projects to further protect human rights, commended the development march led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.
He also paid tribute to His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister for their support and unwavering efforts.
