Undersecretary for International Affairs meets with Japanese Deputy Minister for Foreign Policy
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, met with the Deputy Minister for Foreign Policy of Japan, Satoshi Suzuki, and his accompanying delegation on the occasion of his official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
During the meeting, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla welcomed the visit of the Japanese official to the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the two sides viewed the distinguished bilateral relations between the two countries, the ongoing regional developments and discussed a number of issues of mutual interest.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed his appreciation of the advanced level of relations achieved between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Japan, in light of mutual keenness to ensure the optimal activation of bilateral cooperation agreements and to promote comprehensive partnership to achieve greater stability and prosperity.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla affirmed that the relations between the two countries are based on solid foundations of understanding and mutual respect, which will contribute to enhancing cooperation in various fields, referring in this regard to the regular meetings of political consultations between the two countries, in implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed during the historic visit of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to Japan in April 2012, as well as the comprehensive security dialogue that resulted from the visit of the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, to the Kingdom in August 2013.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs viewed the principles of the foreign policy of the Kingdom of Bahrain and its responsible and steadfast stances on regional and international issues and its contribution to the enhancement of international peace and security. He also addressed the comprehensive reforms, the great achievements and the qualitative initiatives that the Kingdom is undergoing thanks to the reform approach of His Majesty the King.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla said that the launch of the first session of the ministerial meeting of the Arab-Japanese political dialogue last September, is a good step to enhance understanding between the two sides, adding to the membership and efforts of the two countries in the Asian Cooperation Dialogue. In addition, Tokyo's hosting of a new round of the Japan-Arab Economic Cooperation Forum this year will contribute to the translation of advanced political relations towards maximizing economic benefits, investment movement and technology transfer.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs noted that the Kingdom of Bahrain represents an important and responsible partner in the Middle East region, as it provides a pioneering regional model for reform and sustainable development, tolerance and respect for religious freedom and human rights in its broad sense. In addition to Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, a pioneer in business and logistics, and a platform for digital technology, which forms an attractive framework for mutual investment with Japan. The Kingdom is also in the midst of important energy developments.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla highlighted the importance of the dialogue of civilizations and cultures as an effective element in confronting the threat of terrorism, stressing the importance of concerted international efforts to deter countries which are sponsors of terrorism and threaten regional and international peace, and to prevent their hostile plans against all humanity.
